Saskatchewan a safe, secure place to live and raise a family

The Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing (CPSP) delivers a wide array of programs and services to fulfill its mandate to promote safe communities in Saskatchewan. The Ministry works in partnership with other ministries, governments and community-based organizations to deliver its programs and services.

As its name suggests, the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing is organized into three broad operational areas. It employs about 2,000 staff members located in communities across the province. Their diverse responsibilities include:

  • delivering programs for individuals in conflict with the law;
  • providing emergency planning and communications services;
  • monitoring and enforcing building standards;
  • delivering fire prevention and disaster assistance programs; and
  • providing licencing and inspection services related to public safety.

The CPSP Management Team manages the Ministry's operation on a day-to-day basis.

The 2009-10 Annual Report presents the Ministry's activities and results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2010. The Ministry's annual report, as required by legislation, is tabled by the Minister responsible within 120 days of the close of the fiscal year.

The Ministry Plan for 2011-12, released with the Budget on March 23, 2011, demonstrates how the Ministry aligns with government's vision and goals and presents a high level framework for the Ministry's activities in the upcoming year. The plan contains strategies and actions that will be pursued in the upcoming year, measures to gauge the ministry's progress, and a financial summary.
