- The Office of the Fire Commissioner has acquired on loan, a limited inventory of Fleetnet portable radios and desk top battery chargers from our SaskPower project partners. They will be available for deployment to approved public safety agencies in January 2009.
- Deployment of the radios to emergency service agencies will be based on the following priorities:
- Priority One: Where equipment failure is currently posing a direct threat to life and safety of emergency service personnel.
- Priority Two: Where equipment failure is imminent and may pose a threat to life and safety of emergency service personnel.
- Priority Three: Where current equipment failure has a significant operational impact for emergency response.
- Priority Four: Where a need exists but the agency does not currently operate Fleetnet equipment.
- Procedure:
- Step One:
The requesting agency contacts the Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Project office and requests assistance:
1-888-953-3693 Fax: 1-306-953-3697 or e-mail: ppstn@gov.sk.ca
- Step Two:
Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network project staff will follow up with the requesting agency to determine:
- The priority of the request.
- The number of units required.
- Lid numbers and talk group information.
- Step Three:
Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network project staff will evaluate the request and:
- Determine the number of units available.
- Program the units to be deployed and ensure the radio(s) are fully operational.
- Inventory the deployment.
- Arrange for deployment to the requesting agency at the requesting agencies expense.
- Step Four:
Upon receipt of the replacement equipment the agency will:
- Acknowledge receipt of the equipment.
- Confirm the operational status.
- General:
- All monthly subscriber, maintenance and repair costs of the loaner equipment will be the responsibility of the receiving agency.
- Damage and loss of equipment will be the responsibility of the requesting agency.
- Requesting agencies with equal priority needs will be accommodated on a “first come - first serve” basis.
- Once deployment of new radio system occurs, all radios and equipment will be returned to the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
