Under the ministry's Violence Reduction Strategy, the Supportive Employment Initiative will help offenders connect with employers as a way to integrate back into the community.

The Protection and Emergency Services (PES) Branch provides a provincial coordination and administration role in ground search and rescue activities other than those activities conducted by the RCMP which are coordinated and administered by Policing Services Division. Search and rescue volunteers may be called upon to assist police agencies in searching for missing/lost persons or to provide support to local communities during emergencies and disasters.

Public Safety & Sask911 works closely with Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers (SARSAV) to facilitate chapter development and sustainability as part of community public safety programming. Through this partnership, training opportunities are made available for the province's volunteer searchers in ground search and rescue as well as emergency management.

Search and Rescue New Initiatives Fund (SAR NIF)

The Government of Canada established the SAR NIF to provide funding for new search and rescue initiatives that will improve the National Search and Rescue Program. The fund is administered by the National Search and Rescue Secretariat in collaboration with Federal, Provincial and Territorial departments/agencies responsible for search and rescue activities. Protection and Emergency Services Branch, CPS, is the Provincial contact for SAR NIF administration.
