Under the ministry's Violence Reduction Strategy, the Supportive Employment Initiative will help offenders connect with employers as a way to integrate back into the community.

An offender that has been remanded before a Judge is held in a provincial correctional centre remand unit until the next court date. These offenders are generally waiting to appear at trial. However, they may at the same time be under a sentence or may be convicted and being held pending a sentencing hearing.

Some offenders are held in remand centers under the “other hold’ category. These include:

  1. Immigration Hold warrants
  2. Parole suspension warrants and
  3. Other Parole Warrants
