The mandate of Policing Services Division is to provide safe communities and maintain public order by the provision of effective and efficient policing through programs that uphold the rule of law while protecting the rights on individuals.

Policing Services is responsible for administering the Provincial Police Service Agreement (PPSA) an agreement with Canada for the use of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as Saskatchewan's provincial police service. Policing Services also administers funding agreements with municipal police services for the provision of resources for targeted enforcement strategies and initiatives.

In addition, Policing Services is responsible for a host of other programs which includes, Aboriginal Policing, the Private Investigator and Security Guards Program, the Public Disclosure Program, the Vehicle Impoundment Against Sexual Exploitation Program and the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Investigation Unit. Policing Services also provides administration services to the Saskatchewan Police Commission by providing staff and resources to the commission in its capacity to promote adequate and effective policing and operate the Saskatchewan Police College.
