Inmates participating in PRISM Industries programming receive meaningful work and related experience to inmates. PRISM uses a hands-on approach to give inmate-employees practical skills and a basic work ethic, which improves their opportunities to obtain and maintain employment in the community after they are released.

PRISM operates eleven shops in four correctional centres in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Regina. PRISM's capabilities include the design, development and manufacturing of metal, wood and fabric products, as well as assembly and re-packaging. Clients include all levels of government, Crown corporations, community organizations and private industry.

PRISM's contracts with government ministries reduce the total cost of government, and income generated by PRISM helps defray the operational costs of the correctional centres. Inmates use their earnings to pay restitution, support their families or to support themselves while they are in custody.
