A proposed new Correctional Services Act has been brought forward for this legislative session. Once enacted, it will replace the existing Act, guiding administration and operation of the province's correctional system.

Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert today presented a cheque from government for $250,000 on behalf of the people of Saskatchewan for the Canadian Red Cross's Horn of Africa drought appeal.

The province has released Building Partnerships to Reduce Crime a new, integrated approach to crime reduction in Saskatchewan.

The 2011 harvest has ended for the offenders from the Saskatoon Correctional Centre's Urban Camp, and the bounty is all being donated to the Saskatoon Food Bank and St. Mary's Community School.
