A new 90 bed dormitory was officially opened at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre this afternoon. This marks the first expansion of bed space in Adult Corrections since the late 1980's.

Jonathan Lee TAPAQUON, date of birth March 22, 1989, violated his community supervision undertaking on June 9, 2009. Tapaquon was released to community supervision pending a court appearance for charges including possession of a weapon, use of a weapon, break and enter, and assault with a weapon.

Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister Darryl Hickie led grades two and three students from Grant Road School in an exercise to help them learn how to keep their families safe during an emergency. The event launched Emergency Preparedness Week which runs from May 3 to 9, 2009.

For only the third time in Canadian history, three Saskatchewan municipal police officers received Commissioned Officer designations in a ceremony at Government House.
